About the Factor Dashboard
Investing styles, called factors, take turns leading the market. Sometimes momentum stocks (the recent winners) run ahead, sometimes quality companies hold up best, and in other years cheap value stocks or calm low-volatility stocks do better. This dashboard tracks NSE's own factor indices every week so you can see which style is working now.
Every factor is compared with Nifty 50. A green number means that style has beaten Nifty 50 over that period; red means it has trailed. The heatmap shows all periods at once, the chart shows how ₹100 grew in each style, and the calendar table shows that no style wins every year.
The data comes from NSE's daily index file and updates every trading evening. It is education on past data only: a style that led recently can turn quickly.
Common questions
What is factor investing?
Factor investing groups stocks by a shared trait, such as strong recent returns (momentum), strong balance sheets (quality), low prices compared with earnings (value) or calm price moves (low volatility). NSE publishes an index for each style.
Which factor is best?
None wins every year. The calendar table on this page shows how the leader changes from year to year. That is why many investors watch which factor is leading instead of betting on one forever.
Where does the data come from?
From NSE's official factor indices: Nifty200 Momentum 30, Nifty100 Quality 30, Nifty50 Value 20, Nifty100 Low Volatility 30, Nifty Alpha 50, Nifty100 Equal Weight and Nifty Smallcap 250, with weekly closes since 2016 (Momentum since 2020).
